The Write Stuff's Promotion Of Literacy In 2009: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

In November 2008,The Write Stuff Literacy Campaign (www.thewritestufftv.com) announced it was taking a place on the world scene to vigorously promote literacy and bring individuals as well as organizations to the battlefield, combining forces against the worldwide problem of illiteracy and apathy.

In December 2009, Founder/Mississippi native Cyrus Webb is pleased to announce that the first year of the project has been a tremendous success.

"We have worked with our literary partners across the country and reached out to others across the globe to show we are willing to do whatever we can to highlight the importance of reading," says Webb, 34. Coming from a state known for its problems with school drop-outs and illiteracy, Webb considers it an honor to be on the frontline of this important war.

Using the national platform of his radio show Conversations LIVE! (www.conversationsliveradio.com), the influence of his co-ed book club Conversations (www.thebestbookclub.info) and his webisodes created by The Write Stuff, Webb has seen tremendous support from literally every state in the country and individuals in the United Kingdom, Africa, Australia and Canada. This was evident when The Write Stuff hosted its 1st National Day of Reading that was held on Sat. November 21, 2009. The goal was to host events in all 50 states during the same time as a way to show unity on the cause of promoting reading. 40 states were able to participate, bringing together people of all backgrounds, walks of life and interests. (see http://thewritestufftv.webs.com/supportersofreading.htm )

During the final months of 2009, Webb created Do The Write Thang (www.dothewritethang.com) to combine his literary efforsts under one roof. Through it, he has reached out to and garnered support from many well-known celebrities and up-and-coming forces who want to use their influence to promote reading as well. Sponsors and supporters also included For The People Productions, Crunk Magazine, Hype Magazine, NuSouth Magazine, Industry Standard Magazine, Poetic Monthly, AG Press, HHH Magazine, HunidRacks Energy Drinks, Vitaminwater (Louisville, KY) and others.

As 2009 comes to an end, Webb is already looking forward to the events scheduled for 2010. Through his new website www.themaleoprah.com, he hopes to show that the influence and example of a person like Oprah---also from Mississippi---can be seen and felt in men as well. He will also continue his outreach to literary supporters across the globe, showcasing what can be done when people work together to achieve a common good.

The Write Stuff Welcomes Artist/Illistrator Carlos "CJ" Claudio

The Write Stuff Literacy Campaign welcomes the talents of Carlos "CJ"Claudio to the project. He is a respected illustrator that will be designing the book cover for the winner of The Write Stuff competition. Find out more about him below!

"Art has been my passion since I was little.  My mom always encouraged me to pursue it, and along with my teachers throughout my school years, helped me recognize my talent.  There is sometimes an indescribable joy when I pursue an idea…whether it be a sketch, a finished illustration, a design, a painting, or any other form of expression.

"First, I wanted to be an architect.  Then I started to learn the process of animation; I used to make very crude flipbooks.  Later, when I took interest in comic books, I learned how to draw people fairly realistically and dove into the world of fantasy and superheroes.  To this day, though I have many different ideas and different outlets, my passion still lies a visual representation of an idea or emotion.  I recognize how anyone can relate to someone they don't know through their art, and so I expand my circle of interest to include helping others express themselves by way of illustrating for them.

"At the same time, I remain versatile enough to lend my design talents to businesses, learning how to best reflect their message artistically in order to help brand their business and passions.  Art, in its many forms, is simply how I choose to relay my message as well that of others. The Write Stuff Episode Four--- "Faith & Literature"

SAT. NOV. 7, 2009: Because of recent tragedies that occurred during the past week, Shadow Play Entertainment and the producers of The Write Stuff decided it was appropriate to push up a special segment it had prepared to run during the holidays called "Faith and Literature." Creator and host Cyrus Webb was able to assemble four bestselling authors (Jerry Jenkins, Jewell Parker Rhodes, L. A. Banks and Evie Rhodes)who came together for the first time to discuss the role that their personal beliefs played in the work they produced and how they walked the fine line of treating their careers like a business while still being true to who they are.

It is a six-part conversation that you will want to watch and share with anyone who finds themselves struggling with those very issues. This show is dedicated to the memory of Izear Roberts, Jr.---the father of producer Stanley Clark---who passed away unexpectantly this week, those who passed away in the horrible incidents in both Texas and Florida as well as their families. It is our hope that all will find something to encourage themselves as we go through our own challenges in life as well...
